AT Building Solutions works with community colleges and universities, for profit, non-profits, community development corporations (CDC’s), community housing development corporations (CHoDO’s). Our principles clients are organizations with a focus on market rate multi-family, senior and student housing.
The core competencies of the Company are Strategic Planning, Financial Analysis, Project Design, Project Management, and Technical Assistance. AT Building Solutions is comprised of a team of professionals that include a general contractor, a quality control engineer, a housing consultant, a marketing specialist, and a business analyst. Along with its strategic partners, who provide architectural and engineering services, AT Building Solutions supports city, county and state government in their reconstruction and redevelopment efforts—encompassing residential, commercial, and retail development.
A Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) is a private, nonprofit, community-based service organization with the capacity to develop affordable housing or carry out other HOME program funded activities for the community it serves. CHDOs are governed by a private Board of Directors and maintain accountability to the community through designated representation on the Board as well as through formal community input processes.
501(c) organization or simply "a 501(c)" is an American tax-exempt, nonprofit corporation or association. Section 501(c) of the United States Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 501(c)), provides that 26 types of nonprofit organizations are exempt from some federal income taxes. Sections 503 through 505 set out the requirements for attaining such exemptions. Many states refer to Section 501(c) for definitions of organizations exempt from state taxation as well.
Public housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing comes in all sizes and types, from scattered single family houses to highrise apartments for elderly families. There are approximately 1.2 million households living in public housing units, managed by some 3,300 HAs. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administers Federal aid to local housing agencies (HAs) that manage the housing for low-income residents at rents they can afford. HUD furnishes technical and professional assistance in planning, developing and managing these developments.
